We are excited to share that several innovations from the BOW project have been featured on the European Commission’s Innovation Radar platform. This recognition highlights BOW’s contribution to advancing high-impact technologies developed through EU-funded research.
The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative that identifies breakthrough innovations and the teams behind them in EU-supported projects. It aims to increase visibility for promising technologies and help bridge the gap between research and market application.
The innovations from BOW recognized by the platform include:
- CONAN Assay: Colorimetric Nanoplasmonic Assay to evaluate Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) properties.
- Development of mathematic model (software) for evaluation of nanovesicles biocompatibility in vitro.
- Device for magnetic separation and manipulation of Magnetic Beads Devices (MBD)-Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) hybrids.
- Functionalisation Procedure of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) membranes with functional molecules.
- Sonication based microfluidic encapsulation device for encapsulating nanoparticles in Extracellular Vesicles (EVs).
- SOP for derivatization of either native MSV-EVs or nanoalgosomes, as well as hybrid particles.
- Magnetic Beads Devices (MBD) – extracellular vesicles (EVs) hybrids for its usage in theragnostic.
- QC assay for extracellular vesicle (EV) preparations.
Being featured on Innovation Radar is a mark of excellence, showcasing the BOW project’s market potential, scientific merit, and relevance to industry. It also opens opportunities for further funding, strategic partnerships, and access to EU-backed acceleration programs, offering a valuable bridge between research outcomes and real-world impact.
The BOW project was funded with nearly €4.5 million from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme and concluded on October 31, 2024, after four years of multidisciplinary research. Coordinated by the CSGI (Consorzio Interuniversitario per lo Sviluppo dei Sistemi a Grande Interfase), the project involved key partners including the CNR (National Research Council of Italy), University of Santiago de Compostela, Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Helmholtz Zentrum München, Atlantic Technological University, ETH Zurich, Hansabiomed Life Sciences, Biodevice Systems, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Zabala Innovation.
