On May 22nd , the BOW project supported the European Innovation Council (EIC) to co-host a cluster event on Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) in Brussels. Dr. Iordanis Arzimanoglou, the EIC Program Manager for Health and Biotech, led the event that brought together representatives from key EV-based European projects, startups, academia, and stakeholders in the biotech and biopharma industries.
More than twenty sector experts convened at the EIC’s initiative to discuss emerging scientific, technological, innovation, and market challenges in the EV field. The event aimed to foster meaningful collaborations between EIC-funded thematic projects and external companies and counterparts.
Representing the BOW project was our coordinator, Paolo Bergese from the CSGI. Other European projects related to extracellular vesicles were also present, including MIMIC-KeY, MindGAP, Gladiator, Nexus, MARVEL, AcouSome, EV-FOX, and ACROBAT.
The event featured two roundtable discussions. The first focused on the scientific and technological challenges in designing and manufacturing extracellular vesicle-based therapeutics. The second addressed market and commercialization issues. Participating in these discussions were BOW partners Paolo Guazzi from HansaBioMed and Antonella Bongiovani from the CNR, representing the startup EVE Biofactory.
In addition to co-organizing the event with the EIC, the BOW project hosted a cocktail reception the evening before. This allowed speakers and attendees to network and discuss the extracellular vesicle sector in a relaxed and collaborative setting.
